Get hosting

This guide explains how to buy hosting and what happens until your website is online.

Choose the plan

  1. Open the Hosting page and compare the plans: space, databases, FTP users, included mailboxes and WordPress.
  2. Click Buy on the plan you need: the Get hosting window opens.

The website's domain

Every hosting plan is linked to a domain. In the window choose one of these options:

  • Already with us: a domain you already have with SiteLyra, even if it is being transferred, or one you are registering or transferring in the same cart. You need to be signed in.
  • New: type the name you want (e.g. yourname.com). If it is available we register it together with the hosting, and you find both in the cart.
  • To transfer: a domain currently with another provider. Type the name and, if you already have it, the transfer code: you can also enter it later, in the cart.

The domain must use our nameservers, otherwise the website would not be reachable: if it does not, the cart or the checkout tells you.

Hosting only or WordPress

  • Hosting only: you get empty space and upload your website yourself via FTP.
  • Hosting with WordPress: we install the latest WordPress for you, ready to use. This option only appears in plans that include WordPress.

Then choose the Duration and click Add to cart.

Order and payment

  1. In the cart check the lines (hosting and any domain) and click Proceed to order.
  2. At checkout enter or check your Billing details and, if there is a domain to register or transfer, the registrant: both are done on the same page, in a window.
  3. Choose how to pay (card or PayPal, bank transfer, credit) and confirm.

When the website is online

After payment the website is set up automatically. In the dashboard, under Hosting, the status is Setting up; it usually takes a few minutes and we email you when it is Active.

If the domain is being transferred, the hosting starts on its own when the transfer is complete, usually within 1 to 5 days.

From then on you find everything under Hosting → website name: see The website dashboard.
