Email migration

If you already have mailboxes with another provider, we copy the messages into your SiteLyra mailboxes: free, within 5 days, archive included. It is included in the email plans that show it on their card («Free migration»).

Before you ask

  1. Activate the email plan on the domain (see Activate email).
  2. Create the mailboxes with us using the same addresses you have today, choosing new space and passwords (see Create a mailbox).
  3. Keep at hand your current provider's incoming mail (IMAP) server (e.g. imap.provider.com): you find it in your email app's settings or in the provider's guides. And the mailboxes' passwords there.

Request the migration

  1. In the dashboard open Domains → domain name → Email → Migration sub-tab and click Request the migration.
  2. Fill in the form:
    • Current provider and IMAP server;
    • Mailboxes to copy: tick the ones you want and, for each, enter the password you use at your current provider;
    • any notes (e.g. only the last years, folders to skip).
  3. Click Request the migration: you get a confirmation email with the date by which it will be completed.

The sub-tab shows the status: Received, In progress, Completed. Until it starts you can cancel it from the ⋮ menu. Meanwhile your mailboxes work as usual.

Passwords stay encrypted, only our technicians can see them and we delete them when the migration is finished. Afterwards, change them at your old provider.

When the migration is complete

You get an email: open your mailboxes from webmail or your email app and check that all messages and folders are there.

  • The domain uses our nameservers (the normal case for domains registered or transferred with us): new email already arrives with us.
  • DNS is managed elsewhere: update the email records where your DNS is managed (see Email DNS records), otherwise new email keeps arriving at your old provider.

More domains in the same plan

There is one migration per plan and it covers the mailboxes of all the plan's domains: request it from the main domain (see Activate email).
